Welcome to Kauren River Camp, an oasis of tranquility in the heart of Kaur Wharf Town, The Gambia.
As home for different species of birds, it is most suitable for nature lovers and those seeking tranquillity away from rest of country. The River Gambia National Park is also recognized as a sanctuary of Gambia’s remaining wildlife thus becoming a home for hippos, chimpanzees, fish and birds.

Named after the local Fulani word for meeting and discussing in peace, Kauren River Camp over looks an extensive vegetation with a scenic green and sweeping view of the river Gambia.
Location and Environment
The camp is located in Kaur Wharf Town, 19KM from Farafeni which is 142km from Barra. From Kaur, it further takes a driving distance of 37.7KM to Wassu stone circle which is another 22.6km from Janjangbureh. This proves the point of Kaur being an accessible town en route to Janjangbureh.
Kauren River Camp itself is a mare four minutes’ drive from the highway behind the town of Kaur, making it an accessible and suitable place for overnight stays and stop-overs for lunch.
Accommodation and Dining
Rooms
The camp offers ten rooms, each with a double bed, air conditioning, and en suite bathrooms. Rooms are designed to blend comfort with a rustic, natural aesthetic,incorporating local materials and craftsmanship.
Dining
The on-site open restaurant serves a menu of classic and local cuisine. The focus is on fresh, organic ingredients, with an emphasis on Gambian dishes. Special dietary requirements are catered to with prior notice.
